It had been a long weekend for Jess, and with no classes to go to, he had every intention of spending the day pretending Luke and his mom had never been here. For now, he was at one of the corner tables in the Perk, nursing a cup of coffee and trying to drown out the sounds of anyone else as he read.

It was still a beautiful day and there was still plenty of wonderful food in the Park, welcoming visitors to Fandom Island.

The registration desk was still open and the banner waved in the comfortable breeze announcing the event of the day.

By some act of Fandom, the weather was behaving itself. Any clouds or rain the weather forecasters had blathered about on the news seemed to have skipped over the entirety of Fandom Island.
